Schubert:  Winterreise, D.911

Acclaimed director Katie Mitchell returns to New Visions from her 2008 production of Waves to stage One Evening, a gripping performance that explores the profound affect Franz Schubert’s music had on Samuel Beckett. Celebrated tenor Mark Padmore’s expressive account of the composer’s wrenching song-cycle Winterreise, in a new English translation, is paired with an actor’s readings of the iconic playwright’s poetry and prose on themes of the human condition.

Co-production with Aldeburgh Music and South Bank Centre

This performance is part of the New Visions series.

New Visions is made possible by The Fan Fox and Leslie R. Samuels Foundation, Inc.
