The 27-member New York Arabic Orchestra, directed by Bassam Saba, is the most prestigious Arab orchestra in the US. Its program features the classical repertoire and passionate compositions by Saba deeply rooted in the traditions of classical Arab and Lebanese folk music. Saba, a virtuoso nay (flute) player, multi-instrumentalist, and leading figure in Arab music, has performed widely with Yo-Yo Ma, Fairuz, Marcel Khalife, and Simon Shaheen. Naji Youssef and Salma Marjieh appear as guest vocalists.
