VIP tickets come with a 2010 Festival of Winds t-shirt, reserved seating, and free admission to the Pizza Dinner
On March 7, 2010, the Columbia University Wind Ensemble will host the Second Annual Columbia Festival of Winds, a day-long series of concerts featuring New York City area music ensembles
With the proceeds from the 2009 Festival of Winds and the help of the Morningside Area Alliance, the CU Wind Ensemble established Making Music Matter, a free after-school music program for students at P.S. 125. Members of the Wind Ensemble are currently teaching 16 fourth grade students how to play flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone. The P.S. 125 band will perform during the Festival to demonstrate their accomplishments.
This year, the Wind Ensemble seeks to maintain this real and positive change for inner-city students and believes that the Festival can continue to bring instruments, music, and learning to schools without music programs.
