Artist's Bio:
Renee Rey | JTS class of 1981

Renée Rey is a multi-disciplinary visual artist.

She was born in Japan, hails from New York, and is now living and creating in South Florida.

At 18 months old, she drew her first fish. The journey has been upstream ever since.

Her work deals with spirituality and the physical world, past and present, personal and collective identities, and people, nurture, and nature, while harmonizing movement and the stillness of a moment in time. The Artist, in conveying her message and vision, utilizes various media in the artistic process. Ideas come as an inspiration, and the execution of those ideas is intended to engage the viewer in a visual dialog and stimulate more questions than answers by the viewer.

An award winning artist, Rey has exhibited her artwork nationally, and her work is collected worldwide.   She has created custom pieces for  Johnny Depp, Actor, Laurie Jennings, Channel 10 Anchor, Miami, FL, Bristol Myers Squibb and First Albany Corporation, New York, New York.  She has studied on the undergraduate and graduate level with numerous experts in various art, design, and creative disciplines including painting, drawing, video, sculpture, graphics, art history, and writing at Parsons School of Design, NY, NY, The University at Albany, Albany, NY, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY, Art Students League, NY, NY and the Westchester Art Workshop, White Plains, NY. She also holds a degree in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design (having worked in a NYC commercial design firm, and had her own commercial/residential business for over 15 years), an MA in Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and an MBA Degree in Management (awarded full Fellowship) from RPI.

Renée Rey teaches adult classes and workshops in Fundamental and Advanced Oil and Acrylic Painting,  Fundamental and Advanced Drawing with charcoal,  pencil, pen and ink, Pastel Drawing, Portrait Drawing, Figure Drawing  with the Model, and Mixed Media/Collage.
