SOAKING WET
Soaking WET is a series of choreographic evenings curated by David Parker, whose company, David Parker and The Bang Group (including Marisa Palley (BC '08) and Lisa Krinsky (BC '06)) has been the first and only resident-dance company of the West End Theater since January 2003. Parker is committed to bringing together artists of varied backgrounds and levels of experience in order to break down aesthetic barriers and achieve mutual inspiration. The artists are united by their commitment to movement and their understanding that vigorous experimentation can take many forms.
GROUNDWORKS DANCETHEATER (Cleveland, OH)
As part of its Tenth Anniversary Season celebration, Cleveland's GroundWorks DanceTheater will make its New York debut with a season March 5-8 at the West End Theater, West End Avenue & 86th Street. Founder/Artistic Director David Shimotakahara has selected four works from the Company's large repertory - all New York Premieres - by Keely Garfield, KT Niehoff and Shimotakahara. Joining the dancers is frequent music collaborator Gustavo Aguilar, composer and percussionist, who will appear on stage in Nano, performing his original score for snare drum.
GroundWorks was founded by David Shimotakahara in 1998 and is dedicated to the development and presentation of new choreography created for the Company, and collaborations, most notably with composers of new music. In 2004 GroundWorks Dancetheater was voted "One of 25 to Watch" by Dance Magazine.
