CUArts Word on the street…
El Museo del Barrio is situated at the intersection of Spanish Harlem (aka El Barrio) and Museum Mile, in a location that perfectly suits its marriage of Latin spirit and New York museum culture. Housed on the lower level of a building it shares with other community programs, El Museo boasts a small yet dense collection of some of the finest Spanish-influenced artwork from all over the world, from South America and Spain to Mexico and El Barrio itself. Inspired by the revolutionary spirit of its history, the museum offers a mix of rotating exhibits ranging from the spicy and fun to the political and motivating that will leave you either wanting to dance the salsa or change the world. El Museo also sponsors a robust variety of public programs that are not to be missed. For tasty homemade food, definitely venture northeast into Spanish Harlem.
