CAAL Members had an opportunity to see the premiere of composer Alexander Bakshi's A Requiem for Anna Politkovskaya set to the visually puppetry of Amy Trompetter which commemorated the life and death of the Russian journalist. A pre-performance reception and panel discussion took place in Union Theological Seminary's James Chapel and was led by Professor Catharine Nepomnyashchy and four speakers: Ann Cooper, coordinator of the Broadcast Program at the Columbia Journalism School; Rachel Denber, Acting Director of Human Rights Watch's Europe and Central Asia Division; Mary Holland, professor at the NYU School of Law; and Miki Pohl, professor at Vassar College. |
